Workshops to Promote Wellbeing in the Classroom

EDC’s SEL & Wellbeing Professional Development are high-quality, adult learning-centered workshops that build capacity to promote student social and emotional development and academic success district-wide.

Our skilled trainers bring diverse content and training expertise, allowing us to offer a wide variety of key topics in social and emotional learning (SEL), multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and wellbeing for students as well as educators.

Our Approach

SEL & Wellbeing Professional development workshops include learning, discussion, reflection, and videos. Action planning activities serve as opportunities to practice and apply concrete strategies.

Each workshop is two hours and delivered online for up to 50 participants. Depending on the topic, our professional development workshops may appeal to teachers, administrators, or both.

Schools and districts may work with EDC to host a single workshop or a package of six standalone workshops scheduled at your convenience. Single workshops are priced at $5,000 and a package of six workshops is priced at $20,000.

Selected Topics

Our team will help you select the best workshop or combination of workshops and contextualize them to meet your district priorities and goals.

Foundational workshops like Using MTSS to Promote Student Well-Being & Mental Health can help the district train new or existing staff in foundational concepts. Specialized workshops offer a deep dive into related topics, such as belonging and digital wellness. Workshops such as Using and MTSS Approach to Promote Attendance and Foundations for Classroom Management help educators apply SEL, CP&I, and MTSS principles in classroom contexts.

Using MTSS to Promote Student Wellbeing & Mental Health

Participants, including teachers and leaders, engage with the critical elements of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and learn with tools to self-assess and identify strengths, gaps, and opportunities for improving current MTSS processes. During the training, participants have guided time to develop an action plan with specific goals and steps for strengthening MTSS structures.

Using an MTSS Approach to Promote Attendance

This interactive training explores how schools can reduce chronic absenteeism through evidence-based policies and practices implemented across all three MTSS tiers. The workshop emphasizes the importance of building meaningful, inclusive partnerships with families to support student engagement. Participants explore Tier 1 strategies like school-wide positive messaging and consistent communication with caregivers; Tier 2 interventions such as personalized outreach and collaborative problem-solving with families of at-risk students; and Tier 3 supports that involve intensive wraparound services and partnerships with community agencies. The workshop provides guidance on using both quantitative and qualitative data to uncover root causes of absenteeism and align targeted strategies with identified risk factors.

Foundations for Classroom & Behavior Management

Our experts guide teachers on best and emerging practices to promote positive behaviors and enhance learning with a strong foundation for classroom and behavior management. Participants in this training workshop build knowledge of behavior management, identify goals for their own classrooms, and draft plans for setting up an effective classroom environment.

Strategies to Support Educator Wellbeing

This training provides teachers, support staff, and leaders with strategies for prioritizing and supporting well-being. Participants learn about effective practices to support self- and relational care, as well as to create safe and supporting work environments that promote higher retention, healthier outcomes, and better role modeling of well-being practices for students. Our experts will guide participants in developing a holistic understanding of adult-based SEL, examining strategies around adult well-being, considering ways to align these practices with policy and practice, reflecting on their current successes and challenges with well-being, and planning and acting to further apply well-being strategies.

Promoting a Sense of Belonging in the Classroom

Feeling a sense of belonging is essential to all learning. For early childhood and K–12 educators, ensuring that each student feels visible, connected, and understood is an ongoing process deeply rooted in the concept of equity. Through concrete activities based on identity and relationship-building, teachers who participate in this interactive training workshop establish a set of tools and strategies that promote a sense of belonging for all students in the classroom, including multilingual, emergent bilingual, and newly arrived learners.

Supporting the Mental Health Needs of Multilingual Learners & Newcomer Students

Students arriving from other countries to the US and those for whom English is not their native language experience unique stressors and challenges in school. Teachers participating in this workshop learn to implement specific classroom-based and school-wide strategies to support the well-being of these students.

Strategies to Promote Students’ Digital Wellness & Reduce Social Media Harm

Teachers who participate in this workshop discover research-based strategies, including policies, procedures, and interventions, to promote healthy digital media use, as well as interventions to address harmful social media use among students.
