Center for Health and Learning
The Center for Health and Learning (CHL) is a Vermont-based non-profit organization dedicated to promoting mental health and building healthy communities through educational resources, professional development, research, and policy development.
The Center for Health and Learning, or CHL, has been providing workforce development through in-person and virtual trainings, technical assistance, and project implementation throughout the state of Vermont for over 25 years. CHL focuses on mental health and wellness promotion, substance misuse, and suicide prevention.
CHL's work on suicide prevention is focused primarily through the Vermont Suicide Prevention Center (VTSPC). VTSPC is a public-private partnership of CHL with the Vermont Agency of Human Services. The mission is to create health-promoting communities in which people have the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and resources to reduce suicides in Vermont. CHL's Zero Suicide project work supports the statewide Designated Mental Health Agencies (DA) create suicide safe pathways of care. In the Fall of 2023, EDC helped CHL plan for and execute a full-day, in-person Zero Suicide Skills Institute with their DA partners. The training was a great success, and CHL's partners gave very high marks for the day.
