Clinton Prairie School Corporation, a small rural district in western Indiana, is taking steps to improve how it prevents and responds to youth suicide. After experiencing student losses and recognizing gaps in its approach, the district joined the Preventing Youth Suicide Initiative in 2022.

With support from EDC Solutions’ Multi-Tiered Suicide Prevention for Schools, Clinton Prairie began formalizing policies, training staff, and integrating suicide prevention into its existing multi-tiered system of support. This case study highlights how the district shifted from a reactive approach to a more coordinated, proactive strategy to better support student mental health.
