"Kids Are Using AI. Here’s What Adults Need To Do Right Now"
Newsweek published a piece co-authored by EDC's Shai Fuxman and Sarah Sword on why adults, especially parents, educators, and policymakers, need to step into AI conversations with children now, not later.
Kids don’t wait for adults to learn new technology, and that’s especially true with AI.
Too often, young people are exploring tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini without guidance, with risks ranging from misinformation to unsafe interactions.
The most important response isn’t restriction, it’s conversation. Parents don’t need to be AI experts, but they do need to be engaged. Talking openly with children about how they’re using AI and what it means may be one of the most powerful safeguards we have.
