New Foundations Training Prepares Practitioners for Evolving Prevention Landscape

Prevention Solutions@EDC’s new Prevention Fundamentals Online (PFO) training prepare practitioners new to the substance misuse prevention field and/or working in related disciplines to address substance misuse prevention within the broader context of behavioral health, and to do so through a lens of cultural competence and humility.

Examples of Local-level Logic Models for Addressing Behavioral Health Disparities

This resource contains three examples of logic models that prevention practitioners can use to think through their process for addressing behavioral health disparities at the community level. Each example addresses a different type of disparity, and includes the community’s related substance use problem; factors that contribute to the problem; activities to address the problem; and short-, intermediate-, and long-term outcomes.

Culturally-Informed Programs to Reduce Substance Misuse and Promote Mental Health in American Indian and Alaska Native Populations

This tool is designed to inform strategic prevention planning by helping tribal communities identify and select culturally-informed programs that have been shown or have the potential to reduce substance misuse and promote well-being.

As Practitioners Shelter at Home, Participation in PS@EDC Ethics in Prevention Course Grows

Since early March, more than 200 prevention practitioners have participated in PS@EDC’s online Ethics in Prevention course—twice the number that attended during the first part of the year. Nearly all seats for the first July session have been filled and another session is planned for the end of the month.
