Funding for SAMHSA's Adult Prevention Grants will support States, Tribal Territories and community-based organizations to address substance misuse, strengthen the behavioral health workforce, and support community efforts around mental health concerns and suicide prevention.

With decades of grant-funded experience and expertise across a range of content areas, including Zero Suicide, substance misuse and problem gambling, EDC offers training and consultation services that can help organizations meet grant requirements while:

In addition, EDC’s evaluation services measure the reach and effectiveness of prevention messaging, training activities, and treatment and recovery supports and generates meaningful evidence of impact while meeting SAMHSA evaluation and reporting expectations.

Adult Suicide Prevention

SAMHSA's Adult Suicide Prevention funding presents an opportunity to implement comprehensive suicide prevention and intervention strategies that strengthen community awareness, access to relevant resources, improve care transitions and support individuals at elevated risk for suicide for adults 25 and older.

Community-Led Suicide Prevention (CLSP)

Community-Led Suicide Prevention (CLSP) provides an evidence-informed framework and associated services to help communities strengthen their implementation of effective suicide prevention. CLSP strengthens community-based suicide prevention efforts through the development of coalitions and evidence-based practices that address risk and protective factors for suicide.

Zero Suicide Institute

Zero Suicide Institute services, such as the Zero Suicide Academy, Community of Practice, Workshop and our consultation services provide training for organizations and technical assistance to Project Directors.  Zero Suicide is a systems-level framework that transforms organizational and state-level care provided in healthcare settings for suicide using a continuous quality improvement approach.  

Collaborative Safety Planning Training

Collaborative Safety Planning Training provides practical, evidence-informed strategies to support individuals of all ages who may be experiencing suicidal ideation, emotional distress, or a mental health crisis.  This training combines didactic content with role-playing to build competence and confidence in this key safer suicide care intervention.

Evaluation Services

EDC’s Evaluation Services can provide on-going technical assistance to the grant-required Evaluators seeking to align their evaluation efforts with statewide suicide prevention programming.  Our team can also support evaluation planning, performance measurement, data collection and reporting, systems change, community impact, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.

Behavioral Health and Community Safety Partnerships

SAMHSA's Behavioral Health and Community Safety Partnerships funding presents an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between behavioral health providers, public safety agencies, schools, and community organizations, and reduce the behavioral health impact and improve outcomes for youth, families, and other individuals affected by violence and trauma.

EDC’s Evaluation Services can help applicants develop evaluation frameworks that measure both implementation and outcomes, including community partnerships, behavioral health indicators, service access, and participant outcomes. We can support logic model development, performance measures, data collection plans, reporting systems, and continuous improvement throughout the life of the grant.

Tribal Behavioral Health Substance Use Prevention

SAMHA's Tribal Behavioral Health Substance Use Prevention funding presents an opportunity to prevent and reduce substance misuse and overdose among American Indian and Alaska Native youth and young adults by strengthening community-driven prevention systems and partnerships and expanding culturally responsive prevention services and supports.

SAMHSA's Strategic Prevention Framework: Partners for Success for Communities and Tribes funding presents an opportunity to develop and deliver community-based substance misuse prevention services that strengthen protective factors, reduce risk factors, build resilience, and promote well-being, and expand and strengthen the capacity of prevention providers serving communities and tribes to implement evidence-based and evidence-informed prevention strategies.

SAMHSA's Preventing Youth Overdose: Treatment, Recovery, Education, Awareness and Training funding presents an opportunity to improve local awareness among youth and young adults of the risks associated with fentanyl and provide youth and young adults with opioid use disorder and other substance use disorder prevention, treatment and recovery support services.

Prevention Solutions Consultation Services can provide tailored support to achieve required activities, such as developing primary prevention messaging or trainings on the prevention of substance misuse by youth and young adults on the potency and dangers of synthetic opioids and other emerging substance misuse issues.
