New Report Explores How Digital Platforms Can Support Social-Emotional Learning in Youth
A new white paper highlights how social media and interactive technologies can help support social-emotional learning and youth mental health, with key contributions from EDC, the Digital Wellness Lab, and the Ruderman Family Foundation.
As schools continue to face barriers to fully implementing social-emotional learning (SEL)—including limited time, resources, and training—experts are exploring new avenues outside the classroom. A new white paper, Leveraging Interactive Media to Foster Social-Emotional Learning for Youth, offers an in-depth look at how digital platforms can support SEL and youth mental wellbeing.
Commissioned by the Ruderman Family Foundation, the paper was researched in collaboration with the Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital and Education Development Center (EDC). Authors and contributors include EDC's Akira Gutierrez Renzulli, Eleanor Dong, Athi Myint-U, Shari Kessel Schneider, Richard Fournier, and Shai Fuxman, among a multidisciplinary team of experts in youth development, media, and education.
The report presents a compelling case for using the media youth already engage with to build critical life skills and emotional resilience. Read the full report at the link below.
