“The most valuable part of this initiative was the comprehensive process. Being able to do an assessment of where you were, set goals and establish an action plan, having the [...] assistive resources to carry out the action plan, and doing a post assessment and sustainability plan was invaluable.”

Integrating Safer Suicide Care Strategies
Our Education and Wellbeing experts will introduce EDC's Multi-Tiered Suicide Prevention (MTSP) for Schools, including the publicly available MTSP Environmental Assessment. We'll share information on how MTSP implementation in schools can effectively coordinate with Zero Suicide and Community-Led Suicide Prevention (CLSP) frameworks.
We will also discuss training and technical assistance services offered by the Education and Wellbeing team, as well as anticipated grant opportunities to help fund this initiative.
MTSP for Schools
Multi-Tiered Suicide Prevention (MTSP) for Schools is designed to assist educational leaders in strengthening strategic planning and creating structural changes focused on suicide prevention in schools through a multi-tiered system of support.
Suicide prevention efforts often include training, programs, and clinical practice, and districts and schools can support these actions through policy-level improvements within the entire system, from the classroom teacher to third-tier specialists. MTSP for Schools assists educators, counselors, and school and district leaders with creating and improving EDC's six key components of school suicide prevention.
MTSP Environmental Assessment
The MTSP for Schools Environmental Assessment supports EDC's Multi-Tiered Suicide Prevention for Schools approach by helping school districts evaluate their current suicide prevention efforts across all levels of support. Educators can use the tool to identify strengths and gaps to guide planning and improve practices. Includes a companion guide and example data.
