The National Conference on Gambling Addiction & Responsible Gambling brings together world-class presenters to deliver powerful and insightful messages about problem gambling and responsible gambling. The 2025 conference, hosted by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), will take place in Columbus, Ohio.
Adapting Public Health Prevention Strategies to the Problem Gambling Field

Despite the existing research on problem gambling prevention strategies globally, evidence-based practice databases are significantly lacking in the field. This session will discuss the similarities in public health and problem gambling prevention measures, and how to identify most appropriate evidence-based practices for target populations, and the shared risk factors. By examining successful public health practices, participants can explore their potential to inform and enhance problem gambling prevention efforts.

Chuck Klevgaard, a nationally recognized expert in substance misuse prevention, is a highly experienced training and technical assistance (TTA) designer and leader. Klevgaard brings extensive experience in public health and behavioral health (BH) and evidence-based alcohol, and substance misuse programs and policies. A member of EDC’s Health Promotion, Practice, and Innovation portfolio leadership team, Klevgaard advises substance misuse prevention initiatives throughout the portfolio, as well as leading TTA services that strengthen the capacity of state prevention practitioners and tribal prevention leaders. He serves as a subject matter expert for the Massachusetts Center of Excellence on Problem Gambling Prevention.
