Join us on March 26th, 27th, and 28th for an interactive, small-group online AMSR Training the Trainer course adapted to support the unique experiences of Substance Use Disorder professionals. About the Workshop
To become an authorized AMSR Trainer, qualified participants first attend a Training of Trainers (ToT), where experienced AMSR Lead Trainers demonstrate expert facilitation and provide new trainers with the opportunity to practice and receive feedback on key aspects of AMSR curricula. AMSR Trainers leave the ToT ready to deliver their first training.
AMSR trainers enhance their clinical knowledge, earn continuing education credits, and get access to a private website that provides teaching and learning resources.
Eligibility
If you meet the eligibility requirements, you can apply to attend a ToT with us:
- Master's degree or higher
- Five or more years as a practicing clinician
- Currently in practice, with state-level standing
- Demonstrated facilitation skills

AMSR Training of Trainer (ToT) workshops provide two and half days of training. The first day is an observation of an AMSR Lead Trainer leading an AMSR training. Days two and three focus on you learning, developing, and practicing as an AMSR trainer.
When you join an ASMR ToT, you gain skills in the recognition, assessment, and management of suicide risk. You'll learn about the delivery of effective suicide-specific interventions and how to develop collaborative treatment and safety plans with those at risk for suicide. AMSR Lead Trainers demonstrate expert facilitation and provide you with the opportunity to practice and receive feedback on key aspects of AMSR curricula.

The AMSR for Substance Use Disorder Treatment Professionals (AMSR-SUD) curriculum develops skills in the recognition, assessment, and management of suicide risk and the delivery of effective suicide-specific interventions.

Participants who complete the full-day Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk for Substance Use Disorder Treatment Professionals are eligible for 6.5. continuing education credit hours. Zero Suicide Institute at EDC is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Zero Suicide Institute maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Zero Suicide Institute is also approved to sponsor continuing education by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC).
