Our Session:
Zero Suicide: Meeting the Challenges of Behavioral Health Integration in CHC Settings
When: August 5th, 2:00- 3:00pm
Presented by: Zero Suicide Institute's Kathleen Lisborg and Shelby Kuhn
Description: In this session, you will be introduced to the Zero Suicide Framework as a continuous quality improvement approach that enlists the entire organization in a cultural transformation toward safer suicide care. Leveraging the concept of a standard pathway to care for individuals at risk for suicide, you will learn how this framework facilitates consistent, best practice care and promotes evidence-based brief interventions for suicide. Leave this session with concrete practices that will enable you to better identify, treat, and transition individuals at risk of suicide, such as the development of a care pathway, utilization of validated tools, and implementation of safety planning practices that reduce risk for suicide. This session will better position your health center’s workforce to meet the needs of a complex integrated patient population.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the challenge of meeting the complex needs of patients at risk for suicide within community health centers.
- Define the elements of the Zero Suicide framework, including the vital role of people with lived experience in the development and implementation of care.
- Describe the ways Zero Suicide practices facilitate comfort, confidence, and competence of the organization’s workforce to address the public health problem of suicide.
- Utilize tangible practices to enhance the care of those at highest risk of suicide and effectively reduce risk.
