AMSR-trained professionals report increased willingness, confidence, and clarity in working with clients and patients at risk of suicide. The AMSR-SUD Training workshop prepares health and behavioral healthcare providers working in substance use disorder treatment settings to provide confident and empathetic treatment to patients at risk of suicide.

Training Description

The AMSR-SUD Training will prepare you to use the AMSR risk formulation in substance use disorder treatment settings, either outpatient, inpatient, or residential.

SUD Curriculum

Substance use disorder treatment professionals make decisions every day about how to support individuals in care who may also be at risk of suicide. Suicide is a leading cause of death among people who misuse alcohol and drugs.

Research-informed curriculum

Certificate & Credits

A certificate of completion will be available after the submission of the post-training survey. 

Participants who complete the full-day Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk for Substance Use Disorder Treatment Professionals are eligible for 6.5. continuing education credit hours. Zero Suicide Institute at EDC is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. Zero Suicide Institute maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Zero Suicide Institute is also approved to sponsor continuing education by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (CA BBS), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC).
